[C320-list] Roller Furling

Hey Allan, its not too hard to inspect and clean the drum bearings, assuming this is the issue.

I would be surprised if the bearings were damaged. Have you ever raised the drum for inspection? Iwould be more suspicious of the foil slipping down inside the drum. There is a set screw that's supposed to prevent this.

But if the foil does slip it will feel like the bearings are grinding because it will be sitting on and scraping away at the top of the turnbuckle which is hidden by the drum.

I know this first hand because I didn't get my reassembly right the first time I did this and it was extremely hard to turn. I pulled it back apart and saw how this happened.

If you haven't seen it apart, I could provide some details. I posted pictures of the last time I did this.

I have the Schaeffer 2100 furler system. The lower assembly has become
almost impossible to turn. While it has not yet completely seized up, it is
very close to doing so. I am assuming that the bearing traces have gone
bad. Does anyone know if this is serviceable? Or do I need a new furler?
And if a new furler, any recommendations on one that will hold up more than
this one has? Thank you!
