The inductive amperage needed to start up the AC motor could be as much as 3 time its normal operating amperage which is probably why some folks trip the protection circuit on the Honda 2000.  If the Honda does start up the AC I would think there are potential for problems with the AC motor after a while of not getting enough amperage for startup, especially with the cycling of many on/offs.  Overheating of the AC motor seems likely if there are many on/off cycles.

Honda's website has recommended applications for its generators and points out the induction issues.  The Honda 2000 high end unit is great unit for many chores.  It is quiet and fairly light weight and for the money invested I also would be tempted to use it for as many applications as possible.
