No, calibration is not difficult. Mine is documented but the manual is on
the boat.

I tried each of the various settings for tank shape, and ended up (I think)
with the square tank even though our tank is anything but square. Our tank
is the Ronco B348 tank used on the newer 320s with a 22gal capacity. It is
more "V" shaped than square. There is more capacity in the top half than the
bottom half so it fills quickly to half then more slowly for the 2nd half.
I don't think it matters much as the "Full" light comes on when the tank is
80% full letting you know that you are nearing capacity.

The empty/full setting is easy enough. At a pump out station, we filled the
tank full, set the sensor for full, then pumped it out and set the sensor
for empty. That's it. If you don't disconnect your batteries for the winter
the unit holds its settings.

Warren,

Was the calibration step difficult? Apparently this is one of the trickier
aspects of these sensors? I want to add this to my To-Do list.....

Last Fall I bought a SCAD Solo tank monitor and installed it along with a
new 21g. holding tank. This unit is so similar to the Ferriello Solo unit
that there must be some connection. Anyway, it worked fine last year. This
Spring it didn't work. SCAD worked with me over the phone to conduct some
tests and I am sending it back for a warranty replacement.

The SCAD unit, and I suspect other such devices, will work with various
sensor devices on the market. I opted for the externally mounted sensor as I
didn't want to deal with a sensor in the tank.

The Solo unit has 4 LEDs to indicate 1/4,1/2,3/4, and full. There is a
separate "Full" LED that comes on when the tank is 80% full so you have some
warning. Installation is simple.

 Check out Profile guages

I found Dennis Ferriello to be a superb source of tech support for his
company. Calibration is much more flexible on these than on older generation
systems and you don't need a special sensor for your diesel tank if your
current sender is working.
