[C320-list] FW: Outhaul lost in boom

Irv,

I see the 3:1 double block purchase system. I'm assuming that there is a
pendant that runs from block 1 to the boom end and then to the clew car on
the boom track. Agree?

So this means that we have double lines for both the first reef and the out
haul and we have three blocks in the boom. Yes?

Best,
Bruce

Bruce,
Sorry about that. I must have copied the wrong link from the C320 website.
It is in the Catalina 320 Mast Catalogue on the C320 website
The link is

Irv,
I think I'm doing something stupid but not sure what. When I click on the
link it takes me to a sign in for Google Mail. I don't have an account with
them.
Best,
Bruce
PS. I sent this just to you not the list.

Bruce and all,
Go to
https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox/1293f20e5e10f0cb
and look at page 13

Th#2 block is fixed where the boom meets the mast.
The Beckett of the #1 block has a line attached that exits the end of the
boom and we use that as the outhaul.

If you look through the C320 website and I think the manu, it showed another
kind of floating block that was a piece of metal with a pulley on each end.

This was a scheme using that double pulley for a single line (Jiffy )
reefing system where the reefing line to the luff reefing cringle went thru
one pulley. Then another line that terminated at the end of the boom went
thru the second pully back to the end of the boom up to the leech reefing
cringle. So that when the reefing line from the cockpit is pulled , it also
pulled the luff and leech reefing lines at one time.
I think that scheme has been discontinued and from reading the list over the
years, most have removed that pully.
On 2001 #851 there was a two line reefing system, where the hook for the
luff cringle could also be used as a cunningham pull down went to a
starboard side line holder. From the port side a boom straight thru line
went to the leech cringle.

Hope this may clarify whats in the boom of the C320's
