[C320-list] Water pump

Mike,

Have you noticed any increase in operating water temp? If not, and the leak is very light, you'll probably be fine for the trip home especially if you can sail much of it.

If you're likely to be in risky weather or need to motor the whole way then the safe thing to do is replace it before leaving.

They say its better in the Bahamas. Better for people $ELLING $tuff than people buying stuff. :)

RollieDid you notice a leak before the bearings seized. Or did it just stop.ThanksMichael
PS I am sure it is the pump weep hole thats the problem all bolts and clamps are tight.

Michael,

I replace the water pump in Perkins driven #182 last year.  The bearings went and it made an unholy screetch.

It is close to a one day job to replace for a novice like me.

I would not set off on your voyage without a spare in hand.  Rollie

Michael,

You don't say that you have even tried to do anything to it. Is everything tight???

Sorry, I don't know anything about the Perkins. But the first thing I would do is
tighten all the connections and screws in the cover of the pump.

Has anyone replaced their fresh water pump on an old Perkins. I am in the Bahamas and have noticed a very small amount of coolant drip on the bottom of the water pump. I am wondering how long it may last or should it be replaced the pump before I make the 200 mile trip home. Of course if I were in the states there would be no question but getting it here will be a challenge. Any ideasMichael  Ferguson169 Nauti Clew
