I use about 3 qts thinned out quite a bit. That being said, we are in the
Great Lakes so it's fresh water. Practical Sailors last issue had a rating
on bottom paints that included VC17 Offshore and it seemed to be OK in salt
water. On a side note, Practical Sailor also had a letter from a guy that
uses isopropyl alcohol to thin the stuff ($1.89/ qt) instead of VC172
($29.90/qt). They checked with Interlux and lo and behold, VC172 is
isopropyl and n-propyl alcohol so it works with a bit longer drying time.
