[C320-list] Marvair Reverse Cycle A/C Winterizing /// Here is a 10 minute process

Hello Barbara,

We have a Marine-Air Reverse cycle AC/Heat (that is also a self-contained
unit) and use a very simple winterization approach recommended by the AC
unit installer. We like it because the process can be done after the boat is
hauled out and it takes about 10 minutes. Our unit is installed in the port
side locker and the pump and intake port is located under the aft berth.

First, we disconnect the water discharge hose at the discharge port and
simply blow into that discharge hose and with the AC intake seacock open the
AC intake port now serves as the discharge port for the water in the AC/Heat
system.

Next, after blowing the lines clear of water we stick a funnel into the
discharge hose and pour a few ounces of -60 degree antifreeze, and blow that
antifreeze into that hose, adding a few more ounces of antifreeze again,
alternating blowing the antifreeze into the system until we add a few more
ounces again and again until we use about quart of antifreeze. (The
antifreeze will begin to exit the system via the AC intake seacock / intake
port.)

After using that quart of antifreeze, be sure to blow into the AC discharge
hose to clear most all of the antifreeze out the system, the same as what
you did to initially clear all of the water out of the system.

Empty the intake filter bowel of the water and antifreeze mixture, leave the
seacock open ready for launch in the spring and don't forget to reinstall
the AC/Heat exit hose on the discharge fitting.

After 5 years, we have not experienced any problems.
