In our area the only difference is that diesel for road has "road tax" included in the price where the marine fuel does not. Ken #219, OBUOY

Hello all,
I think I know the answer to this but wanted to get people's opinion.
Is there really any difference between road diesel and marine diesel.
I suspect the only difference is in the additives. According to
Wikiapedia all diesel will be required to be ULSD by 2012 so in that
respect it should be the same. I often can get road diesel cheaper
than I can get it at a fuel dock at one of the marines locally. My
marina doesn't have fuel. So either way I have to bring it in with me
or take the boat somewhere.
Either way I always put in a shot of bio-cide and stabil to keep the
fuel as fresh as I can.
Thanks,
Jason
