The starting alarm is actually an indication of oil pressure.  Without being to technical, when oil pressure  gets to some minimum value the alarm is shut off. Either oil pressure sender on engine, connections, or alarm itself. I would be careful. No oil pressure would mean no engine very shortly. I am thinking about an gauge to show actual pressure but that is down the road.  Good Luck
