Thanks for the information. I did find the serial number this morning right where you mentioned. 

I do most of my maintenance, but was not sure about removing and installing that gear driven pump. After reading your Detroit Diesel warning, I think I will have the job done. I really like our Perkins engine and don't want to mess it up. 

I had quote today from Diesel Specialists of $598 for a new pump. I hope I can find a better price and as someone mentioned earlier, I will check eBay. 

I let you know what I finally decide.
