[C320-list] Raymarine SPX5 Installation

Come to find out, the real issue is the FET.  As near as I can tell, it 
isn't available.  I'm your age and I HATE to throw something out that should 
be fixed-but you gotta have the parts to do it.  You also have to find 
someone that will do the repair-my de-soldering/soldering skills are not up 
to it, especially since this is a surface mount component.  I've given up on 
getting it fixed and ordered a new unit from Defender.  Now if anybody has 
installed on lately and has any tips, I'd be grateful.  Thanks.

Jim, Good luck with finding someone who is at least 60 years old to do the 
repair. That age group folk were brought up to repair things ---not toss and 
replace---yes, I fall in that group and we have a lot of old things that 
still work, perhaps better than the new things. Our 320 is hull #219 and is 
currently for sale---when the sales broker inspected the boat he commented 
that we should ask 15 % more than normal because of the great condition. An 
"older" repair person can do a good job and save you some money. Ken, #219
