I drilled into the cabin top to install the overhead galley shelf. It was so long ago I don't remember the process. I didn't have any problem. The cabin top is a liner and is not the deck. The deck above is two fiberglass layers with a balsa core between. Let's see what others say. For my two cents you will be safe with a 3/8" self-tapping ss screw. Two or more screws, depending on your mount, will be better.

Has anyone drilled holes in the cabin top? I want to mount a oil lamp above the table and don't know how thick the top is. I would hate to drill all the way through. Thank you
