Brian,

I discovered the same condition last spring and simply had to find a way to
turn each frozen pulley. I discovered that I could leverage a long screw
driver up against the outer edge of each roller while placing the driver
shaft up against the outer most metal edge of the boom and slowly worked
each pulley loose, one small bite at a time. Once I could turn the pulley I
applied some dish soap to further loosen the pulley so it would turn freely
and then rinsed with water. The lesson learned is to make sure that
everything is loose and working at the beginning and end of each season.

Subject: [C320-list] Traveler-end Turning Blocks Seized

All:

Here it is season end and part of Saturday was spent on running rig
de-rigging and boom removal. At each the end of the traveler bar are turning
blocks integral with the bar's construction and leading the running rigging
lines to their associated stoppers. I discovered that several of the pulleys
are no longer free-turning. Is this a common complaint, and is there a
simple common solution? The boat will shortly be under its cover for the
winter and it would be better to not have this a pending spring repair.
