[C320-list] Backstay pigtail

On my last boat, there was a "pigtail" nicopressed onto the backstay that had a clip on it to support/immobilize the boom. I had a topping lift also, but the nice thing about the pigtail is the boom barely moved anywhere. Has anyone done this on a C320? pros/cons to this? I have to replace my vang mast bracket, so I'm trying to eliminate as much boom swing as possible when not in use for the time being. I also have the problem of not having zippered slots in the mainsail cover for the Dutchman, so I have to drop the topping lift (or reset the entire Dutchman system) to cover the sail, so I'm putting strain on the bracket....I'll fix the cover over the winter.
