[C320-list] ST4000+ flux gate compass

We had occasion to replace our original black wheel deal with an S1 wheel
pilot. Just the wheel stuff. All other components remain. We still
experienced crazy Ivans. I was thinking that maybe it has to do with the
start-up sequence, you know, how the wheel turns to port when first turned
on. But when it happens while under way and on auto. It never loses it's
course and recovers on it's own if I don't take over. Like the Catalina
"list" I've never heard a plausible explanation.

Perhaps it's the ST 4000 - in general, I had crazy ivan wheel at times -had
same problem with 2nd 4000 - they never could find problem. Catalina finally
replaced with S1 system which worked OK for years - until I recently
switched to linear-drive below deck system which is amazing, and a folding
wheel.
