[C320-list] Gas Solenoid

A friend has recently bought a 2006 Mk 1 320 and has a problem getting gas
to the stove.  When he turns on the solenoid at the switch panel the switch
springs back, no red light and no gas. This has only started over the last
week.  He has had the boat for about 6 months.
I was told by a gas fitter that we don`t really need the solenoid as we have
the auto cut out valves on the stove.
Any suggestions.
