[C320-list] Main Halyard wear

I contacted Garhauer today and they said that it is likely a worn tooth or it may be from slight slippage causing excessive wear. I will be able to check this weekend. I will be buying a new halyard and still am undecided on what to replace it with and wear to order it from. I do like the idea of cutting a foot off each year to extend wear.

This should prevent the kind of abuse you are seeing. Running rigging should be sized liberally enough to that a foot every few years shouldn't matter.

Is this a normal rate of wear? I'm going to replace it, any suggestions? Also, can the clutches be adjusted?
