Mike the cable is not shielded I spliced mine at the top of the mast when my cable broke.Ken 711

Then my cable is to short it ends at the mast base.You still should be able to 
splice on a few feet using the same size wire. Ken 711

I would like a new cable.  I had to cut it short when the mast was pulled some 
years ago.  Now every season I have to connect to terminal block hanging over 
the bilge.
