Always replace both batteries.  There is a difference between standard flooded wet cell batteries and non-servicing gel and AGM battery technologies.  The most common failure mode of batteries that require servicing is that they are not properly maintained with correct fluid level, subsequently shorting battery life.  AGM’s can be used in any orientation and can be recharged at a more rapid rate.  They are more expensive but will last much longer with routine use. AGM’s are safer as well.Jack

Normally it's best to replace batteries in pairs.  That way you will  not
have an old battery paired with a new battery.  Here's a good link on
batteries:

I need  to replace one of my  4D batteries.  Does anyone know if it would
create a problem, charger wise, having one flooded cell battery and the
other  battery being a sealed "maintenance free" type of battery?  I plan on
replacing the flooded cell with a sealed battery when it needs replacing
later.
Both batteries would have the same amount of power, so I don't think  it
would be a problem.
The charger is a Charles model 5000 if I remember  correctly.
