[C320-list] Cabin Light Smoking

Last weekend my wife and I were on a cruise out with our yacht club.  We were using shore power when we smelled a strong odor of burning wiring.  Looking around we noticed that the forward cabin light was smoking.  As soon as we turned the light off the smell stopped.  I had recently replace one of my lights with an LED light.  Is there anyway that the new LED light would cause a line resistance that would cause a short further down the line?
