I'd strongly suspect fuel filters are clogged.

No wind in Cape Cod bay so we have to motor all day. The fuel Gauge reads 
just over 1/4 tank and suddenly the rpm's drop. They go up and down a bit 
until the engine finally stalls out. After a few minutes wait, I restart her 
and she runs for a few minutes at lower rpm's then dies again.

Any thoughts for trouble shooting? Tow Boat US is going to be expensive!
