Thanks for the suggestion to plug the old holes with epoxy - why didnt i think of that! I guess you need to take care to ensure there are no voids trapped in it though. The main reason I wanted to re-use the existing holes though was to avoid the need to lift the engine to any great degree. I figured that if I can do one cormer at a time I can slip the old mounts out and the new ones in.

I am not using tougher mounts but different ones from R&D to replace the original Yanmar ones. The previous owner didnt tighten his fuel line properly and a small weep of diesel fuel dripped down onto the mount and has disbonded the rubbed from the metal (as well as saturating some woodwork, the aft cabin carpet and so on!). The R&D mounts are about half the cost of yanmar and have the benefit of being exact replacemenst in terms of the hole drilling pattern, as well as being fail safe should the boat ever invert (!!) the engine cannot detach from the mounts. Also they are protected should a fuel leak re-ocur. However instead of being about 1/4” thick where it attached to the bearer, its about 3/8” hence the need for a slightly longer bolt.
