I had the same issue and replaced it by using a sheet of teak veneer that I bought from Rockler. Matched perfectly.

The finish on this has been allowed to deteriorate by the previous owner and it has bubbled up and blistered and the wood itself is splitting and marked. I thought it simplest to just replace with a new veneer panel but wondered if anyone knows what type of wood this is - presumably designed to match the steps and the rst of the lighter inetrior woodwork?
