[C320-list] Rudder Update

Our new rudder arrived from Catalina and Commitment, a 2001 wing keel model, has been hauled, so I was able to take some reasonably accurate measurements of the keel and rudder depths. Keel depth from waterline is approximately 53”. Visually, the rudder appears to be at least four inches deeper hanging on the lift, but it measures 53” depth from the waterline also. The foil is about 48” as  per current spec. Note that the current rudder on the boat is our second, the result of being hauled out of the swamp after hurricane Ophelia. Our OEM rudder foil is about 52” which is the current spec for the fin keel models.


I’m not sure what all this signifies, but I'm beginning to doubt that the longer rudders were used for very long if at all other than perhaps  random cases such as ours.
