All, 

This past weekend I finally had a few spare moments to crawl in the aft
cabin with a screwdriver and flashlight. The results of my inspection
show that after 19 years, my idler plate looks like it was installed
yesterday. Still shiny, no rust marks, no evidence of corrosion at all. 

The job took about 30 minutes of my time. I recommend that you all do
the same for your own peace of mind.
