The cycling is due to a gradual loss of pressure (the pump has a pressure switch on it) and is almost always caused by crud building up on the rubber diaphragm inside the pump.
Although access is a bit of a pain, once you get the pump and mtror out you can quite easily disassemble it and clean up the diaphragms. I should warn you that what you find will probably put you off consuming any water from the faucet that hasnt been thoroughly boiled.
