The compass never leaves the boat, for sure. I leave the batteries on
board, but disconnect them. I go up every month or so and take an extension
cord (and a six pack or bottle of booze), plug it in to the outlet with an
adapter and re-hook the batteries and let it charge for a few hours or all
day if I can find things to do near the marina. Then I unhook everything
and drive the hour back home. Good to go see the boat every now and then
anyway.
