Interesting. I have fixed hinges on MDF kitchen cabinets in a similar way
to
your approach.

Thanks

Your approach probably is better than mine. I just filled the holes with
broken off wooden matches.

Subject: [C320-list] MkII Ice Box Lid

Has anyone had the screws for the icebox lid break free from the Corian
worksurface. If yes, how did you fix it please?

I am currently planning to fill the holes with epoxy and while the epoxy is
still setting, put the back screws in. They will be located by the hinges
attached to the closed icebox lid.

Does that seem a reasonable approach?
