[C320-list] Fwd: Wheel Steering Safety Notice

Steve, Can you remember when this first appeared  for people who need protection from their own negligence when looking into a car mirror: "objects in  mirror are closer than they appear"?; or perhaps when "Hot Coffee" warnings became necessary?;  or how about this actual warning label that put the litigation problem (that drives up consumer costs) in perspective that was actually printed on disposable cups: “If this was another country, we’d have to tell you coffee may be hot. Good thing this is Canada!”?????

Rick, you are right about the periodic inspections if you are mechanical and know where to look- I'm not. If I buy a car and one day the  wheel falls off because I have a defective part while I'm going around a curve at 75 miles an hour doesn't the manufacturer assume some responsibility? Particularly if they knew about the defective part and did nothing about it? By the way I think that attorneys are our answer for keeping manufacturers in line. Without laws and attorneys to make sure the laws are adhered to, what do we have- periodic inspections by ourselves?
