[C320-list] Golf cart battery installation

Thanks Brian.  I was at the boat the other day and did some more measuring.  The height in there is 11" (from tray to board) and the T105s (with the low profile terminal) listed as 11.07" (although top of the post marked as 10.74").   I wasn't sure if they would fit height wise. Also each base needs an additional 1.5".  Very good point about how to secure them.
I have spent so many hours over the winter doing the rewiring for start battery, installed xantrex battery monitor, ACR, etc that I just want to start the cruising season already. The house-battery tray modification may have to wait until next winter as I am counting days to launch.

>From what I've read in past posts, looks like a few others converted to various GC2s that are on the market.  For the folks who switched to GC2s, do you start the engine on the those as well or use a separate starting battery? My understanding is 3GMs draw much less and can start on a real deep-cycle battery.  Has this been the experience?

Onat:

Several years ago I replaced the original (2001) you-and-three
friends-to-lift pair of house bank wet cell batteries with 4 Trojan AGM 6v
golf cart batteries. My experience was that the height was JUST a fit with
the access boards in place on the starboard settee. They are a tad narrower
than the originals, but as a pair a little longer. Thus I had to remove and
cut one end off the battery trays as the were barely not a fit.

The issue is security. The originals were held in place with a wooden batten
resting on the top of  battery and screwed into the bottom of the settee.
There is no room to do this in the 6v application. It was necessary to buy
and install brackets on the tray and straps to use as a battery hold down on
each of the 6v.

Trust this moves you forward.
