[C320-list] Re varnishing the sole

I just refinished mine and the product I used is Minwax Helmsman Satin ( I don't like the Gloss) and I can recommend this product. The sole was in fairly good nick and I sanded all of the panels with fine sandpaper on a random orbital sander. I didn't do this on the boat but removed all of the sole panels to a workshop. The most difficult part of this job is removing the salon table...not all that difficult if you have a heavy duty Phillips screwdriver to remove the table support post. I was surprised to find that the entire cabin sole rested on solid fibreglass except in the bilge areas. Most boats I know just have the cabin sole sitting on the hull cribwork. Another reason to suggest why Catalinas are one of the best production available!
On reinstalling the panels I used a portaable drill with the torque setting on very low so as not to damage the sole panels by driving the screws too deeply into the wood.
