[C320-list] ST 50 GPS Antenna

Has anyone had experience replacing (or at least rewiring) the ST 50 GPS Antenna?
The coax wire covering has split near the antenna where it enters the stainless stanchion.
It takes a long time to acquire a GPS signal and we occasionally loose our GPS fix (with another long wait).
It's a passive antenna that is 2" in diameter and 9" tall.
