[C320-list] Compass removal form Edson steering pedestal

First, before removing anything,  run a piece of tape down vertically on the aluminum rim ring and down onto the plastic black rings onto the pedestal and use a razor knife to cut across the tape at each joint. Remove the compass light-2 small screws, and unplug it. Then remove the aluminum trim ring. the use another piece of tape vertically on the compass base and the ring that holds the compass tight so you can keep the same orientation when re-assembling. My compass (hull 973) is held in a plastic ring and is loosened by loosening the one screw on the band that holds it in place. The compass then just lifts out . Then remove the four long bolts that hold the plastic piece that holds the compass and the base plate and you can access the steering mechanism. While you're in there you may want to adjust the nut that keeps the throttle from slipping and the grub screws that keep the wheel brake mechanism tight on the wheel shaft. Hope this helps

Arthur,
On my 2001, the compass twists off-no screws.
