All,

This past weekend, I completed this project. As Jeff noted, it wasn't
bad and no messenger lines were needed to run the new hose. Also, on my
boat I was able to tilt the medicine cabinet inward without detaching
the vented loops inside, saving much extra work. Someone had cut the
opening a little larger and the corners of the medicine cabinet were
beveled in the back, making it easy to tilt.

I took pictures and will post a blog article in the near future.

I've also ordered a SOLO tank monitor and will be installing that as
well, with pictures and an article to come.

My old vent was completely clogged and the clog was petrified. It was
also a 5/16" fitting and the OEM 3/4" vent hose that Catalina installed
was crushed with the cable clamp to make it seal (sort of). Clearly a
poor design decision on Catalina's part. It was clear that the clogged
vent and overfilled tanks on occasion had forced some fluids into the
hull liner. YUK.

The absolute worst part of the job was cutting away some fiberglass trim
that partly obscured the vent line inside the hull. I used my dremel
tool and a cutoff wheel. I was absolutely covered in fiberglass dust.
The fiberglass I removed was hidden behind the upper trim panel and was
not structural.

It was about a four hour job - including a trip to the marine store when
I discovered a broken hose clamp on one of my waste lines.

More later,
