A lag in the starter motor sometimes indicates a flat spot in the motor commutator. Before you get the motor rebuilt I would trace all the motor connections and give them all a good tweak with the correct size wrench, don't forget the batteries. This serves to dislodge any corrosion and remake a good electrical path. A bad ground is the source of many electrical problems on boats. If this doesn't solve the problem get someone who knows what she/he is doing with a multimeter.Good LuckJohnM1999#574
