The problem with that theory is that up until a couple of weeks ago, the gauge has been accurate since 2009 when i brought the boat to Perry.

Hi Bill,
I've seen a lack of reliability in our depth gauge for a while. I've cleaned off the transducer, etc., but just don't seem to always get a good read. I've come up with a theory, although I could be way off.
Lake Perry is a muddy lake with a lot of silt at the bottom. My theory is that the depth is just hard to get a fix on with so much crud in the water and soft layer at the bottom.
For what it is worth...

1. My depth indicator gets wacky while underway. It reads the correct depth for a while then the word "Depth" starts flashing and the numbers either lock in their last correct reading or start jumping all over the place. This just started within the last month or so. Any suggestions?
2. Auto pilot has become noisy when in operation. It seems that the noise is from the wheel drive unit on the steering wheel or from the "motor tube" on the back of the wheel drive ring. Is there some way to get into these parts for lubrication?
