[C320-list] Depth sounder

The DST800 transducer is the combined one. We had separate Speed and Depth/Temp transducers. When we replaced all the electronics, we went with the combined DST800 and just plugged the other thru-hull.

The DST800 and others are mostly all made by Airmar. You can get either the Raymarine/Flir branded ones or the Airmar ones, whoever has the best price.

Interestingly enough I prefer the old speed transducer I had in 2001 which stopped working after about 10 years. In the old model, the threaded locking ring was attached so that you could hold the unit and completely unscrew the locking ring. Then with the plug in one hand and the pull ring in the other, you could swap the paddle wheel for the plug in about 2 seconds and get hardly any splash in the boat. The newer model of speed transducer had the threaded locking ring attached so that as you unscrew it, it lifts the paddle wheel out at the same time. Well, you can only unscrew it so fast and water is drizzling in the whole time. Messier job with the ones that do that. Not sure if my brand new combined unit also behaves that way.

Both my 320’s had/have separate depth transducer from the speed/temp transducer. The speed transducer is a paddle wheel and when in place projects below the full surface, obviously whereas the depth transducer is flush. It has to be in the water to work!

Easy to see if you pull out the drawer in the forward cabin you will see both the-hulls, unless as Jeff says its all now combined in one?

I believe that for Ray marine the transducer is not proprietary, ie there are other makes that will work with the Raymarine instrument.
