One more (helpful) idea.  We freeze a couple of one gallon milk jugs (each
holds 8 lbs) prior to cruising and use those in preference to ice blocks.
They have the advantage of (1) no drainage issues when thawed, and (2) a
handle.  Also (3) you can always use a couple of extra gallons of fresh
water.  Just remember of course to not fill all the way and put the lid on
loosely to allow for expansion during the freezing process.
