Grinding the fairing material revealed very little
The fiberglass doesnt looked cracked, but you can definitely see that two different materials meet where the rust seem was:

My brother hit a rock early last summer at 2-3 knots but I would think damage would show at the root....
I'll re torque the bolts and get an expert to look at it.
