[C320-list] Autopilot

I recently installed (myself) this:Raymarine EV-100 Wheel Evolution Autopilot (for Sail Boats) - T70152
I did it as part of replacing almost all my nav electronics.  Doing well for me.  Look/wait for rebates etc....
Here are some thoughts I remember from my research.
1. Wheel vs. piston/shaft.  The wheel version (according to what others said) is less robust but easier/cheaper to install.  Piston is more robust (for heavier seas) but may require a boat yard to do proper install. Depends on your capabilities.
2. The Autohelm will work less if you have a rudder sensor installed.  It communicates with the "computer" to let it know the angle of the rudder and "somehow" take that in to account when making helm adjustments.  I chose not to install one.  Several reasons.
3. If you have issues with the GPS (that comes with this one) you can add an external antenna.
It was about $1,300 about a year ago.
Good Luck

 Subject: [C320-list] Autopilot

I didn't use the autopilot much on my first 320 so didn't get one on this boat. Haven't missed it in 14 years, but there are some singlehanded and short handed races in my future and now's the time to reconsider.

Any recommendations?
