Oh boy, don't they just!

I too fell foul of the 'paint-stripper attacks plastic mouldings’ disaster, which just tripled the amount of work I have to do to get back to where I started!

the other factor that comes into play is the “while I’ve got access to XYZ it would be stupid not to replace/refurbish the PQR” and thus the ten minute job turns into a two day marathon!
