[C320-list] Perkins Perama M30 Engine Air Cleaner

I can't find an air cleaner/filter on my Perkins M30nengine.  The available engine diagram shows "Induction Cap" near the engine top (close to the oil filler cap) where there is a metal screen on my engine that looks like it would be the place for an air filter to be housed behind it, but the metal screen is not easily removable (two screws ...... one screw is inaccessible/behind something else).  

I read a post that suggests that the metal screen IS the air filter; whereas, a Perkins workshop manual I have talks about a cyclonic filter with a cleanable paper element. 

Can anyone provide any guidance about this?
