I also have a Xantrex 40A. I recommend purchasing the Auxiliary interface panel. This way you can access the charger from the nav station remotely. Otherwise, you have to stick your head in the Port locker to get status information from your charger. The wiring takes about one hour. You need to fish A flat silver satin RJ 45 type wire from the bulkhead in the port locker through your cabinets to an area next to the nav station where you use a holesaw to drill a approximately 1 inch hole to mount the auxiliary panel. It is quite easy to see this panel from all parts of the boat to determine if your charger is operating properly and as expected.
