[C320-list] Edson Pedestal Maintenance - Compass Removal

I am doing maintenance on the Edson pedestal on one of the early boats (Hull #53) for the first time.  I have lubed the wire in the bottom half, & am going to lube the bearings and chain in the top of the pedestal next.  To access the bearings and chain, it requires the compass to be removed.  Has anyone removed their compass & can you provide some guidance nohow to do that do that?  Thanks much!
