[C320-list] Dutchman system monofilament

I used a Mack Pack and lazy jacks on my last boat, a Bristol 30, for 10
years. They are convenient, but have their own limitations. They can chafe
sails and hang up battens.
The best system I found was to keep them stowed until you were ready to drop
the main. Then deploy them, point into the wind and drop (or tug) the sail
into the lazy jacks. Once you are at the dock, use ties on the sail and stow
the lazy jacks again.
I've only tried the Dutchman a couple of times because I've mostly been
doing a refit. Worked fine today. Sail folded right onto the boom. So far,
I'm happy, although I originally was skeptical.
It really comes down to a matter of personal preference and individual
design. Some lazy jacks work a lot better than others.

Hi Jeff,
How would you rate the stack pack/ lazy jacks vs the Dutchman? I'm about due
for a new main and I'm thinking of switching flaking systems. Are you Happy
with the stack pack. I do a fair amount of single handing, so I need a
system that gets the main down in reasonably good order without my having to
scramble around a lot

If anyone needs 400-lb monofilament, send me your address privately and i'll
ship mine to you. I replaced my lines in 2016 and then put a stack pack with
Lazy Jacks on it in 2017.

B-40, 400-pound test, is what the copy of my receipt reflects. I ordered
directly from Dutchman. $23.00 for 100 yards in 2012.-----Original
