[C320-list] Swim Ladder

FWIW.  A fellow in our local group has a C320 and his swim ladder actually went for a swim and got lost.  He replaced it with one of those accordion Folding (into itself) that then folds over onto the swim platform.  Similar to this one at West MarineWEST MARINE 4-Step Over Platform Telescoping Swim Ladder | West Marine

Model # 12868717 | Mfg # 8341R | UPC # 25282125616

The beauty of this one is he can drop it with his dinghy hanging.
I do like this because you really need something to get up on the boat if somebody falls overboard.  If mine gets lost I might do this.....

Thanks,

Has anybody found an easy way to remove and store the swim ladder when not in use? ?My wife and I are on a mooring and board the boat from the stern. ?It's easy getting on the boat, but we must climb over the stern rails and ladder to get on board. ?We have a 1999.
What would be ideal was if the the ladder was connected with quick disconnect pins, so it could easily be removed and stored, and we could easily board. ?A lifeline could be installed in place of the ladder when not installed. ?
Has anybody done this? ?If so how, and where did you store the ladder on board for easy access and installation?
Thanks,

Dear Group,

I am working LIFEPO4 lithium battery project and I found a $80 solution for Low Voltage Disconnect  that is cheap battery insurance for all batteries.

I am wiring up the Victron Smart Battery Connect Input  from the breaker next to the switch on the starboard side to the Main Panel on the port side. The LVD module is Bluetooth configurable. This unit has very accurate voltage you can read with your phone.

Here is my video on the testing of the unit.

I think the 100A unit will be fine for most people. Here.

Clay,

I have 1995 # 246.  I have also battled the water in the bilge problem.  I think the drawing that Dave Hupe is directing you to will show the locations for drilling some additional drainage holes in the athwart ships beams (they are hollow) which will allow water trapped in the storage areas under the settees or in the hollow interior of the beams to drain into the bilge.  The holes don?t really work that well because they are too high however they are quite handy for sticking a small hose (1/2?) attached to a shop vac to vacuum our the water that is trapped there.  I find that I need to do this occasionally when I have some type of water leak which is usually either from a failed muffler, leaking mechanical shaft seal, or leak in the fresh water system.  You can also use the shop vac approach below the galley drawers (you may do better if your remove the assembly) and in the area around the holding tank.  I would not recommend plugging any drain holes because after all you water to drain into the bilge and get pumper overboard!  The key is to keep these areas dry in the first place.

I would also recommend taking up all for the floorboards as there are some areas there that can trap water.  You shouldn?t have to do this more than one time.

New Topic

1.  We are exploring the North Channel this summer in our 2008 C320 (Bucket List).  Thinking about a GoPro Model 7 - our son says that there are knockoffs as good for a lot less $$$.  What does the 320 Group think?  No Scuba diving, but we plan on taking movies of our keel slicing through the water, of us treking up the paths of the North Channel peaks.

2.  We also are planning on purchasing about 100' of 1/2" anchor rode
(rope) to connect to our existing 100' of chain.  What are the recommendations on connecting the two (rope to chain).  Hardware specifics would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom Grass
