Jeff:

It sounds like you have a larger inverter wired directly to your 110 system. It will contain a device that switches between 12 and 110 volts when you plug in, but keep the AC sockets working all of the time.

However, I’m guessing those dehumidifiers would drain a single 4D pretty quickly, so that’s something to watch out for. If a device draws 3 amps at 110 volts, that becomes 30 amps at 12 volts.
