Pat,

Presumably if you have the connector then you have NMEA 2000 available.  The
NMEA 0183 connections are made through the brown/white/green/yellow leads.
You can use either or both if you have them both.  The manual states that the
NMEA 2000 signal has priority if both are in use.

NMEA 2000 is not a daisy chain type of network, it is a backbone based
network.  You would have to tee-off the backbone to connect using NMEA 2000.
