[C320-list] Replace Lifeline stanchion

My boat was hit buy another and the good news is the only damage was a bent
( beyond repair) stanchion. I was lucky enough to acquire a replacement at
a reasonable price. The problem is I have been unable to remove the old
one. Has anyone done this and have any secrets to share. Even after
removing some paneling, there is not enough room to get a socket wrench in
there. All suggestions, other than buy a new boat are welcome.
