[C320-list] Boot Stripe

The boot stripe on my boat is faded in part and I want to rectify this.  I have tried using a cleaner/polish without success.  I therefore was considering using an buffing compound in the hope that the stripe is gelcoat and molded into the hull during laying up the hull.  Can anyone comment on this approach?

If this did not work I was planning to repaint the stripe with Interlux Brightside polyurethane paint. Has anyone used this product for this purpose or is there a better alternative.  I was hoping to paint rather than resort to spraying. 

Assuming use of the Brightside product, there appear to be 4 that might be the match for the original colour, namely Ocean Blue—Sapphire Blue—Dark Blue—Flag Blue.  Can anyone advise which is the best match.
